DURAMOV® ESD anti-static cable chains are cable protection and routing products developed by CSB for static-sensitive working conditions. Manufactured from intrinsically modified conductive engineering plastics to deliver stable static dissipation, they address the industry challenge of static charge buildup from cable friction during high-speed movement of automated equipment, which damages precision electronic components. Compliant with IEC 61340‑5‑1 electrostatic protection specification, they maintain a stable surface resistance below 10⁹Ω, falling within the safe static-dissipative range of CSB®.
The series comprises four major models: C01E micro integral type, C31E micro type with dual-side inner & outer opening, C21E micro type with outer-side opening, and C02E general-duty type. It covers micro to medium-large dimensions with inner height from 7–45 mm and inner width from 7–175 mm, suitable for applications ranging from confined installation spaces to medium and heavy loads. It supports high-speed reciprocating motion within an operating temperature range of −40℃ to +120℃. Featuring modular construction, it enables simple assembly, disassembly and maintenance.
Compared with ordinary plastic cable chains, the core differences lie in material and functionality. Conventional nylon cable chains are made of insulating polymers with surface resistance >10¹¹Ω. Static charges easily accumulate through friction during movement. They only provide mechanical cable protection without static dissipation. When deployed in semiconductor or lithium-battery workshops, even tens of volts of faint static electricity can break down chips and electronic components, leading to product scrap.
DURAMOV® ESD anti-static cable chains do not rely on a simple sprayed anti-static coating. Instead, conductive fillers are blended throughout the base material. Every chain link delivers long-term anti-static performance that will not degrade with wear or service time. It retains all mechanical benefits of standard cable chains including high strength, bending resistance and low-noise operation, while continuously and gently dissipating motion-generated static electricity to eliminate the risk of electrostatic breakdown at the source and meet production requirements of static-controlled workshops. Built upon the proven modular design of the DURAMOV® series, it is available in non-openable integral, single-side opening and dual inner & outer opening configurations, covering high-speed micro applications as well as medium-to-heavy load scenarios.
Several installation and maintenance rules must be followed in field operation to preserve anti-static performance and service life. When routing cables, reserve a clearance of at least 10% of the cable diameter between cables and 20% clearance for hydraulic hoses. Do not mix cables with different jacket materials. Use separators for multiple cables to avoid frictional heat buildup and aggravated static generation. Arrange cables symmetrically by weight: place heavy, large cables on the outer side of the chain cross-section and lighter, thinner cables on the inner side.
Matching ESD anti-static connector accessories must be adopted. Using ordinary insulating connectors will break the overall static dissipation path. Control travelling speed and unsupported span length; select bend radius strictly according to the datasheet, and never use a radius smaller than the cable’s minimum bending requirement. Inspect link wear periodically. Extensive wear depletes conductive fillers and weakens anti-static performance; replace worn chains promptly.
DURAMOV® ESD anti-static cable chains are widely used in static-sensitive automated production lines. In semiconductor wafer handling, SMT assembly and chip inspection equipment, they serve as cable routing for transfer robots to protect wafers and chips from electrostatic damage. In cleanrooms for lithium battery and electrode coating equipment, they fit high-speed reciprocating stations to ensure cell production safety. They are also widely applied in precision measuring instruments, pick-and-place robots, medical automation equipment, display panel production lines and other scenarios.
For high-speed reciprocation on the Y/Z axes of robotic manipulators, the cable chains withstand thousands of daily cycles and support stable 24/7 continuous production. When paired with FLEXMOV® high-flex cable chain cables, they extend cable service life and raise the overall ESD safety level, reducing economic losses caused by production downtime and component failure. They act as core components for anti-static cable routing systems in high-end automated production lines.
